Procedure:  GJ tube contrast evaluation and catheter replacement

Indication:  Clogged GastroJejunostomy Tube

Procedure:

Informed consent was obtained.  A time out/call to order was performed prior to procedure initiation.

The anterior abdominal wall was prepped and draped in sterile fashion.  Contrast was injected, confirming catheter location.

A 0.035” stiff angled Glidewire was advanced through the existing catheter and positioned well beyond the ligament of Treitz.  

A new, ___French GJ tube was advanced over the wire.  The balloon was inflated with 10  mL tap water.   The wire was removed.   Both lumens were injected to confirm location.

The procedure was well-tolerated, and the patient was discharged from the angio suite in satisfactory condition.

 

Findings:

The existing catheter is positioned ____. 

The new GJ tube is appropriately positioned with sideholes in the stomach and the jejunal tip well beyond the ligament of Treitz.

 

Impression: 

Uneventful contrast evaluation with replacement of gastrojejunostomy tube as described.
